England v Australia, 5th Test, The Oval

My Selection Depends Upon the Titch Says Hauritz

London: Australian off-spinner Nathan Hauritz has said that his selection in the team for the fifth and final Ashes Test to be played at The Oval from Thursday will depend entirely on the pitch that the game will be played on.

"Selection will come down to how the wicket is and what they think the best mix is. The wicket may still be dry and they might want to take four quicks," The Age quoted Hauritz, as saying.

"If picked I know I'm going to do my role well. Every time that I've had the opportunity I've done that. I was only hoping to play a Test and go from there, that was the main goal. But to do a steady job - nothing outstanding - has been good and to play a role, I've been very happy with that," he added.

Hauritz bowled 16 overs and captured 2-43 against the England Lions at a side game in Cantebury last week, and is competing for a spot in the final eleven with fast bowler Stuart Clark who bowled 11 over and claimed a wicket.

"Everything's out of our control, they're going to pick the best 11 to win the Test match and if I'm not in that, well that's part of it," Hauritz said.
