Pakistan Likely to Play Tri-series in England in 2011

London: With the return of international cricket in the country nowhere in sight, Pakistan is likely to return to England next summer to a triangular one-day tournament involving Sri Lanka and the host nation.

According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the board is in the process of arranging the one-day series in order to make up for the losses it has suffered due to the lack of international cricket in the country.

PCB chairman Ejaz Butt, who is currently in London, has tabled the proposal regarding the one-day series with the England and Wales Cricket Board officials.

"There are good chances that Pakistan cricketers will visit England again next year to figure in the tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka. The negotiations with the concerned boards are in final stages and hopefully the visit will materialise," The News quoted a PCB official, who is accompanying Butt in London, as saying.

"We are trying to explore maximum ventures of playing international cricket. That is more because of two considerations. The participation in international cricket makes you financially sound. We also want our cricketers to remain busy," the official said.

Pakistan have a hectic schedule ahead following the ongoing tour of England. They will play a home series against South Africa in the UAE. A return tour of New Zealand is also on the cards followed by the World Cup in March 2011.
