Singapore to Host 72-hour Cricket Festival

Singapore: Schools, clubs, corporations and soft-ball teams will attempt to write a new record for cricket in Singapore, with a 72-hour non-stop tournament from Thursday to Sunday.

Organised by the Ceylon Sports Club (CSC), the tournament would feature 52 teams, with the first ball to be bowled at 8 pm on Thursday and the last ball to be bowled at 8pm on Sunday.

Players from the expat communities from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand and Britain, would be participating in the tournament, said CSC.

The Singapore Cricket Club, Singapore Recreation Club, Southern Kings and Singapore Airlines would be among the prominent teams, said CSC, a sporting club of South Asians in Singapore.

The age limits for the CSC Integration cricket tournament is 13 years and above for school children, and a maximum age limit of 40 years for adults.

"In 2009, CSC held a 36-hour long continuous cricket carnival, and is now moving on with the 72-hour cricket festival," V Ravichandran, the organising chairman of the event at CSC, said.
