Razzak Recall for New Zealand 1st Test

Dhaka: Bangladesh on Wednesday ended left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak's two-year absence from the Test squad by naming him for next week's first Test against New Zealand in Chittagong.

The 31-year-old played the last of his nine Tests in August, 2011, even though he has been a regular member of the limited-overs side for the past few years.

Young batsman Anamul Haque, 20, who missed Bangladesh's last Test series against Zimbabwe in April due to college exams, also returns to the squad for the series opener starting October 9.

The 14-man squad, led by Mushfiqur Rahim, includes two uncapped players in all-rounder Marshall Ayub, 24, and seamer Al-Amin Hossain, 23, following their consistent performances in domestic cricket.

"We think Ayub is ready for the national side," selector Habibul Bashar told AFP. "Al-Amin is a wicket-taking bowler and is in good form."

The squad for the second and final Test in Dhaka starting October 21 will be named later. The Tests will be followed by three one-day internationals and one Twenty20 match.
