India Red v India Green, NKP Salve Challenger Trophy, Indore

Badrinath Guides India Green to Challenger Trophy Final

Indore: In the end, it turned out to be a job well done by India Green. Unlike their India Red counterparts, who were sluggish and complacent after their win against India Blue, India Green showed the right attitude and approach.

Thanks to a good show by their bowlers and a compact 50 by skipper Subramaniam Badrinath (67, 76b, 7x4, 1x6), India Green cruised to thumping 6-wicket victory and made it to the final of the Challenger Trophy on Saturday.

After bowling out India Red for 185 in just 40.3 overs, Badrinath batted sensibly with Rohit Sharma (48, 72b, 6x4, 1x6) to add crucial 87 for the third wicket as India Green knocked down the target in 37 overs to win with a bonus point.

After the exit of Badrinath and Sharma, Robin Uthappa and Kedar Jadhav saw their side home. India Green now take on India Blue on Sunday.

If India Red reached 185, the credit must go to Parthiv Patel (86, 100b, 10x4, 1x6) who batted with great determination.
Unfortunately, his teammates didn't take any inspiration from his knock and fell to poor strokes.

India Green leggie Sarabjit Ladda benefited by some poor shot selection by India Red batsmen. He picked up four wickets. New-ball pair of Pankaj Singh and Dhawal Kulkarni shared five wickets between them.

They lost their last eight wickets for just 79 runs. With wickets falling at regular intervals at the other end, Parthiv tried to hold one end but lost the concentration and threw away the opportunity to score his maiden List A hundred.
