Baggy Green is What Aussies Crave For - Siddle

Melbourne: Amid new fears that Twenty20 cricket may entice players to turn freelancers at the cost of their Test careers, paceman Peter Siddle asserts that for the Australian youngsters 'Baggy Green' still remains a priority.

The paceman cited the example of talented David Warner, who he says always has a Test slot in mind despite his astonishing success in the slam-bang format.

"Twenty20 cricket is there to play and people enjoy playing it, but the main thrill is walking out wearing that Baggy Green and playing a Test match for Australia, definitely," Siddle said.

"If you look at Davey Warner, he's had a lot of Twenty20 international cricket but every time he talks, every time he's interviewed, all he wants to do is play Test cricket for Australia

"His main aim in cricket is to one day wear that Baggy Green," Siddle told Daily Telegraph.

Siddle said that playing Test cricket was ultimate aim for the Australian cricketers.

"That's still what everyone wants to do and that's where everyone wants to head with their cricket - they want to play Test cricket," he said.

The concerns grew in the wake of England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff's declining of an ECB contract to concentrate on global Twenty20 cricket.
