Australia A v England, Warm-up, Hobart, day 1

England Elect to Bowl Against Australia A

Hobart: England won the toss and chose to bowl on the opening day of their four-day tour match against Australia A at Hobart's Bellerive Oval on Wednesday.

England left out their four first-choice bowlers, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn and Graeme Swann ahead of next week's opening Ashes Test against Australia in Brisbane.

The tourists chose squad members Tim Bresnan, Ajmal Shahzad, Christopher Tremlett and spinner Monty Panesar as their bowling contingent.

Strauss will lead a Test-strength batting lineup into the match with Australia A as their final preparation for the first Test at the Gabba, starting on November 25.

Australia A batsmen Callum Ferguson and Usman Khawaja are in contention for a Test berth in Brisbane.

England won their opening tour game against Western Australia by six wickets in Perth and drew last weekend's three-day match with South Australia in Adelaide.

The English are out to retain the Ashes, but are also looking to win their first Test series in Australia since 1986-87.
