England Look Bounce-back Against Injured Aussies

Sydney: A growing injury toll has left the door ajar for Andrew Strauss' men, who trail the seven-match ODI series 2-0 heading into third ODI at the SCG on Sunday.

A brilliant Shaun Marsh century (110 off 114) and a superb all-round display from Doug Bollinger (30 and 4-28) inspired the home side to a 46-run victory over England in Hobart on Friday.

But the win came at a heavy cost with off-spinner Nathan Hauritz dislocating his right shoulder while tearaway Shaun Tait, who missed Game 1 with a back complaint, suffered an upper leg injury.

Both players have undergone scans after the game and will miss the third clash, but Hauritz's injury is the most serious of the two, the off-spinner now in a race against time to be fit for next month's World Cup, while Tait could still play again this series.

"It's still pretty painful," said Hauritz, who was assisted from Bellerive in the 32nd over.

It's disappointing to get injured, but it can't be helped. I've never dislocated my shoulder before, and I don't want another one after that.

It could have been worse, it could have been during the World Cup. I've still got three weeks before the team leaves and if it's nothing major I might be back in, so we'll wait and see.

Tait, meanwhile, has been cleared of any significant damage but appears unlikely to play in Sydney. As a result, Victorian Peter Siddle, unlucky to be left out of the 15-man World Cup squad, has been added as a stand-by player for this ODI, as Mitchell Johnson is still unavailable due to a throat infection.

While the Aussies have injury worries, the pressure is now on England after Strauss and co pulled the wrong rein by playing two spinners, Michael Yardy and James Tredwell, on a lively Bellerive Oval deck.

The skipper, who will be without the services of star tweaker Graeme Swann (knee) for another two matches, could not contain his frustration after the Hobart loss.

"It was a very disappointing display, simply not good enough," Strauss fumed.

But it was England's batting that was the major concern in Hobart, with Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott top scoring with 32 as the Poms were bundled out for 184.

Veteran batsman Paul Collingwood appears likely to slot into the line-up after being overlooked for the first two games, with Trott the man most likely to make way.

It wasn't all bad news for the tourists in Hobart as quicks Ajmal Shahzad (3-43) and Chris Tremlett (3-22) both bowled superbly, reducing the Aussies to 4-33 bfore the enigmatic Shaun Marsh unleashed with a brilliant 110, just another example of what the West Australian is capable of on his day.
