England v India, 2nd ODI, Cardiff

England-India Look for Fresh Start at Cardiff

Cardiff: After the damp squib at Bristol, England and India will be eager to get on the board in Cardiff.

The limited overs leg of India's tour to England possibly came up with the best result in the first ODI at Bristol. The damp squib left both teams in a limbo. India will have to wait an extra day for their revenge while England will have to wait for their experimentation with the team composition ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

India will be looking to repeat their heroics in the 2013 Champions Trophy where they defeated Sri Lanka in the semi-finals at this venue to qualify for the finals. For England, they will want to arrest their losing sequence in ODIs and build some momentum with just six months to go for the big event.

The team has been distracted by the disagreement between MS Dhoni and the BCCI over the issue of coach Duncan Fletcher. Dhoni's comments that Fletcher will lead India to the 2015 World Cup and the board's statement that Dhoni has crossed a line has dominated the discourse following India's 3-1 Test series loss.

England have few off-field issues but they will be eager to reverse their on-field fortunes in the limited overs game. Since their 4-0 series victory against Australia in 2012, they have not won a series at home.

In 2014, they have suffered series losses against Australia away and Sri Lanka at home. There are murmurs about Alastair Cook's position in the ODI team but the skipper will be eager to silence his critics in the same way as he did in the Test series.
