Afghanistan Under-19s vs Bangladesh Under-19s, Abu Dhabi

Bangladesh Storms to Ten-wicket Win

Abu Dhabi: Shadman Islam (126 not out) and Joyraz Sheik (81 not out) helped Bangladesh waltz to a ten-wicket victory over Afghanistan in its Under-19 World Cup Group B game in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

After winning the toss and inserting Afghanistan in, Bangladesh overhauled the 213-run target without hardly having to break a sweat.

Islam hit 14 fours and a solitary six in his 142-ball knock while Sheik struck 11 fours. The duo was watchful against left-arm spinner Sharafuddin Ashraf, who conceded only 32 runs in 10 overs, but did not spare the rest as they reached the target with 45 balls to spare.

Earlier, Afghanistan's openers, Usman Ghani and Mohammad Mujtaba, provided the team with a sturdy 69-run opening stand before Ghani was run out by Mosaddek Hossain for 27. Mosaddek, the offspinner, then bowled Mujtaba for 47 and Bangladesh effected three more run outs as Afghanistan's innings began to unravel quickly.

Mosaddek returned figures of 3 for 19 and Rahatul Ferdous, the left-arm spinner, grabbed 2 for 38 as Afghanistan was restricted to 212, a total that Bangladesh chased down with consummate ease.
