Sri Lanka Win as Dutch Out for a Record Low

Chittagong: Sri Lanka secured a comfortable 9-wicket win over Netherlands after bowling them out for just 39, lowest T20I score ever, in the World T20 Super 10 match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.

Lanka lost just the wicket of opener Kusal Perera during their chase.

Earlier, Netherlands batting order collapsed like a pack of cards as they were bundled out for just 39, lowest T20I score over.

Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis took three wickets each while Lasith Malinga dismissed two Dutch batsmen.

After Sri Lanka invited Netherlands to bat, Nuwan Kulasekara struck in the first over and got opener Stephan Myburgh caught for a duck at third man by Lasith Malinga.

Angelo Mathews capitalised on the good start and struck twice in the second over to remove MR Swart (0) and W Barresi (0) in consecutive deliveries.

Though Mathews failed to get a hat-trick but he dealt another blow to the minnows on the final delivery of the fourth over by trapping PW Borren infront of the wickets, reducing them to 9/4.

At the score of 25, Netherlands lost Ben Cooper (8). Ajantha Mendis gave Lanka sixth success by ending the challenge of Tom Cooper who scored 16.

Lasith Malinga too joined the party by bowling out LV van Beek and Mudassar Bukhari with brilliant yorkers in the 10th over.

Ajantha Mendis then wrapped up the last two men to bowl out the Ducth for a record total with 9.3 overs to spare.

Earlier, Sri Lanka have won the toss and have opted to field.

Both teams are unchanged.
