First Qualifier Postponed Due to Rain

Kolkata: The first IPL 7 qualifier between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders to be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata has been postponed to Wednesday due to heavy rain.

The game would start 4:00 pm IST in Kolkata followed by the Eliminator at 8:00 pm IST between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Brabourne stadium, Mumbai.

The Indian Meteorological Department's forecast has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days and the heavy downpour has forced the IPL organisers to shift the game to the reserve day.

On Monday, both teams had to skip their practice sessions on the eve of the match, as the ground was under covers due to continuous rainfall.

Chief Operating Officer of IPL, Sundar Raman also tweeted explaining that in case of a delay in start on Wednesday as well, the play can start as late as 8:20 pm IST with five over a side.
