RCB v SRH, IPL 2015, Bangalore

Warner, Dhawan shines as Sunrisers beat RCB

Bangaloe: SunRisers Hyderabad produced a clinical performance on Monday night as they claimed their first win in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a comfortable eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

Put into bat first, RCB started on a promising note as openers Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli began accumulating runs at a brisk pace. Gayle, who anchored his side to claim their first win of the tournament, was dismissed for 21 runs off Praveen Kumar's delivery.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Kartik batting woes continued as he fell cheaply for nine runs before skipper Kohli trudged back to the pavilion after being bowled out by Ravi Bopara for 41 runs.

While Mandeep Sharma (0) and all-rounder Darren Sammy (6) failed to contribute much to the total, swashbuckling batsman AB de Villiers held his nerves to smack a brisk 46 off 28 balls, which included five fours and two sixes.

However, the rest of the batsmen failed to contribute substantially as they were bundled out by a disciplined opposition bowling unit for 166 in 19.5 overs.

World Cup star bowler Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers for SRH as he scalped three wickets in a single over.

While Bopara and Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed two wickets each, Praveen, Karn Sharma and Ashish Reddy took one wickets each.

Chasing a respectable target of 166, SRH got off to a blistering start, thanks to skipper David Warner's quickfire 57 off 27 balls, which included six fours and four sixes, and Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 50-run knock.

Although RCB tried to stage a comeback into the game as Yuzvendra Chahal removed Warner and Kane Williamson (5) in quick succession, Dhawan and KL Rahul (44 not out) made sure they make no mistakes while they guided their team to a comfortable victory with 16 balls remaining.

With the win, SRH are fifth with two points in the IPL standings table whereas RCH remain in sixth place in the list.
