KKR v RR, IPL 2015, Kolkata

Rajasthan back on top after washes-out

Kolkata: The Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals shared points after their match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata was washed out by torrential showers.

After several inspections by the Umpires – Richard Illingworth and Rajesh Deshpande – and hours of hard work by the ground staff who attempted to get the ground ready, the match was eventually declared abandoned.

KKR will feel hard done by. The defending champions have a history of doing well at home, and would have expected to bag full points from the match. They now have three wins from six outings with seven points on the board.

RR, who came into the match at the back of a dismal showing against Royal Challengers Bangalore, will feel they have been denied the opportunity to get back on tracks. They go back to top of the table with 11 points, courtesy their five wins and the one point from today’s match.

KKR take on the Chennai Super Kings next, while Rajasthan Royals head to Bengaluru to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
