Scotland Beat Ireland in T20 Opener

Bready: Ireland's Tyrone Kane claimed three wickets with his first five balls in international cricket but Scotland won Thursday's T20 match by six wickets.

Matthew Cross was the star for Scotland with 60 off 33 balls as the visitors successfully chased Ireland's 146-5.

Cross was Merrion all-rounder Kane's first victim and two more quick wickets saw Scotland stumble to 94-4.

But the Scots were always ahead of the needed rate and Craig Wallace (26) and Richie Berrington (24) saw them home.

The victors sealed the victory by reaching 150-4 off 16.1 overs.

David Rankin, brother of England seamer Boyd Rankin, was Ireland's top scorer with 34.

The game at Bready was the first of three warm-up fixtures as both sides prepare for the World T20 qualifiers in July.

The second game is on Friday (17:30 BST) and the third on Sunday (14:00).
