Angelo Mathews steps down as Sri Lanka captain

Colombo: Angelo Mathews has stepped down as the captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team from all three formats of the game. The decision has come after Sri Lanka lost the five-match one-day international series against Zimbabwe 3-2 on Sunday.

Terming the defeat to Zimbabwe as “one of the lowest points” of his career, Mathews had said that he will discuss the captaincy with Sri Lanka Cricket board later but he announced his resignation on Tuesday only.
