Liton Das ruled out of Australia series

Dhaka: After keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Tamim Iqbal, batsman Liton Das has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Australia.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) finally confirmed the five-match T20I series against Australia last week, starting from the 1st of August.

Das' family matter forced him to miss a crucial series for his side’s preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin earlier had no doubts about the availability of Mustafizur Rahman and Liton Das.

Though the duo would have been in contention for selection from the second or third T20I, Abedin asserted he was not too worried about them.

He also expressed confidence ahead of the series as Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe in the T20 series 2-1.

Das has so far featured in 33 T20Is, scoring 646 runs, averaging 20.83, maintaining a decent strike rate of 134.02. The 26-year old has also has four half-centuries in the format.

Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman of operations Akram Khan revealed Liton Das has to attend to a family matter, forcing him out of the series.

Khan also stated they only have 17 players in the squad, with Rahim and Iqbal also pulling out. He added that their isolation in Dhaka began on the 20th of July; hence, they can only have players traveling back from Zimbabwe on the 28th of July.

Bangladesh T20I squad:
