Berg's Spell Scripts Italy Win

Sharjah: In a low-scoring match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Italy prevailed over Uganda by 13 runs in a Group B encounter in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.

Asked to bat first, Italy made 131-7 in its 20 overs and in reply Uganda was bowled out for 118 in 19.4 overs.

Earlier, Italy was struggling at 27-3 before Damian Crowley's 24-ball 44 with five sixes and one boundary infused life into the innings.

For Uganda, Deusdedit Muhumza (2-19) and Jonathan Sebanja (2-14), were the key wicket-takers.

In its chase, Uganda lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Deusdedit Muhumza (24) and Charles Waiswa (25 n.o.) offered any resistance.

For Italy Gareth Berg (4-20) was the key wicket-taker and won the Man of the Match award.

"We lost early wickets but the later order showed us how to bat. If I had anything to do with nominating Man of the Match, Damian Crowley would have got it for his 44. He set us a good platform. This meant that when we had to go out and bowl then we stuck to our disciplines. I am very happy with my bowling. Earlier, I was getting one and two, but today everything came out well for us," said Berg.
