England v West Indies, 2nd Twenty20, The Oval

England Aim For Perfect Finish Summer

London: Spinner Graeme Swann is likely to stay on as England's Twenty20 skipper since regular captain Stuart Broad has been advised two months' rest to recover from the shoulder injury he sustained during a one-day international against India at Lord's last month.

Broad thought he might make the grade in time for the Twenty20 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata slated for October 29, but he learnt on Friday that it was unlikely he would play cricket again before 2012.

Broad will not captain England again until the end of February when they play three Twenty20 matches against Pakistan in Dubai. By then Swann will have led England three times in Twenty20 cricket, one more match than Broad has managed since he was appointed full-time in May.

"The shoulder is still quite sore. It's a two-month injury so I'm concentrating on making sure I am in the best possible shape for the games against Pakistan in January. It's not 100 per cent confirmed I'll not play in India, but I'll only play if the rehab goes fantastically well," Broad was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph.

Broad was apprehensive that he would need a surgery but intensive physiotherapy has helped him to avoid going under the knife.

Craig Kieswetter and Alex Hales both played superbly to knock off the target in the first match, but the 10-wicket margin meant there wasn't a chance to see England's exciting middle-order in action. Jos Buttler, the Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman, has played two Twenty20 internationals and still hasn't got to the middle.

Following their 10-wicket drubbing by England in the opening Twenty20 International of the two-match series, West Indies cricket captain Darren Sammy has conceded that his side needed to tighten up all areas of their game.

West Indies posted an inadequate 125 off 19.4 overs and then watched helplessly as England coasted to their target without losing a wicket at The Oval on Friday.

With the final game scheduled for Sunday at the same venue, Sammy said there was a lot of work to be done in order to turn things around.

Marlon Samuels is an experienced player amid a host of new faces for West Indies but he struggled for 4 off 7 balls before being cleaned up by Swann. He'd come in after a flying start provided by Dwayne Smith and it was disappointing that he couldn't consolidate.
