England Provisional Squad For Twenty20 WC 2010

London: England included five uncapped players in their provisional 30-man squad for the World Twenty20 to be staged in the Caribbean from April 30 this year, announced on Monday.

Middlesex pace bowler Steven Finn, Hampshire batsman Michael Lumb, seamers Peter Trego of Somerset and Warwickshire's Chris Woakes as well as Yorkshire spinner David Wainwright will all hope to avoid the cut when the squad is halved at the end of March.

The squad will be captained by Paul Collingwood as regular Test captain Andrew Strauss and his current stand-in in Bangladesh Alastair Cook are not involved with England at Twenty20 level.

"The World Twenty20 is an exciting tournament and we have selected an exciting crop of players in this provisional squad," national selector Geoff Miller said in a statement.

"All players named have shown their ability in the shortest form of the game and the selectors have some difficult decisions to make when reducing the squad to 15 players.

"We have a number of young players knocking on the door which underlines the depth in talent currently available and I know all concerned will be hoping they make the final squad for what is a highly anticipated tournament."

Squad: Paul Collingwood (capt), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Steven Davis (wk), Joe Denly, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Michael Lumb, Sajid Mahmood, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Eoin Morgan, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Liam Plunkett, Matt Prior (wk), Adil Rashid, Owais Shah, Ajmal Shahzad, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, James Tredwell, Peter Trego, Jonathan Trott, David Wainwright, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy.
