Gayle Cameo Takes Bangalore to Playoffs

Bangalore: Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets under Duckworth-Lewis method in their rain-truncated IPL match in Bangalore. This is the longest winning streak in the IPL, seven matches.

In the first innings, Kolkata Knight Riders could manage a none-too-impressive 89 for four against Royal Challengers Bangalore in a rain-truncated match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.

The match has been reduced to 13 overs per-side after evening showers halted proceedings for nearly two hours. Yusuf Pathan top-scored with 36 from 24 balls.

Before the rain stopped play, AB de Villiers took a brilliant catch of Sreenath Aravind's delivery to get rid of Kolkata Knight Rider's captain Gautam Gambhir.

In-form Kallis got out trying to go for a big hit and eventually gave a edge to the wicket keeper. While Zaheer Khan gave Bangalore its first breakthrough when he dismissed Eoin Morgan.

Morgan got out while trying to play a flick off his pads but played it straight to the mid-wicket fielder.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper won the toss and elected to bowl against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Regular skipper Daniel Vettori, who missed the Royal Challengers last match also, has flown back to New Zealand to consult a doctor about his ongoing knee problem.

Bangalore have made two changes, bringing in Abhimanyu Mithun in place of Abrar Kazi and Luke Pomersbach for Tillakaratne Dilshan.

The Knight Riders, meanwhile, have retained the same side.
