Gayle Star as Bangalore Thump Kochi by 9 Wickets

Bangalore: Brilliant knocks from Gayle (44) and Dilshan (52) helped RCB thump KTK by 9 wickets in their IPL match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

However, Vinay Kumar soon came into the rescue of the Kochi side to put an end to Gayle's brilliant cameo. Gayle was again going for the big one as Vinay Kumar delivered a full length ball that knocked the off stump.

Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a dominating bowling performance to restrict Kochi Tuskers to 125 runs.

After a good opening stand, the Kochi side have self-destructed to hand opposition the advantage.

Once McCullum slogged and got out, Bangalore kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.

Bangalore's fielding complemented the bowling and even Zaheer Khan took a stunner. The acceleration at the death never came and this total looks like one that won't test the Bangalore side.

Openers Brendon McCullum (22) and Michael Klinger (24) fell after giving Kochi a good start.

Kochi's hope in the middle order in the form of Brad Hodge also failed miserably as he could manage to score only 5 runs of 12 balls. It was a short ball from Sreenath Aravind, Hodge pulled it uppishly - the ball looked to go over short fine leg but, Zaheer Khan jumped and plucked a splendid catch.

Klinger charged down the track to a full and quick Gayle delivery, but the ball sneaked under the bat and uproots the middle stump.
Vettori brought himself on after his fast bowlers had let Kochi off the hook, and stalled them with two huge wickets. His fielders - from the usually nimble AB de Villiers, to the rarely agile Zaheer Khan - responded with sparks of brilliance on the field, and Kochi lurched from 64 for 1 in eight overs to 89 for 5 in 14, before finishing on an unconvincing 125 for 9.

Earlier, Kochi skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and opted to bat against Bangalore.
