I Was Injured in South Africa During IPL Says Sehwag

New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, who was ruled out of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in England, admitted that he was injured while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in South Africa.

The Indian opener said he got injured while playing with Deccan Chargers in the semi-final of the IPL second season.

"I was hurt while trying to stop the ball diving."

"I am not sure what will happen next, I will now see a specialist," said the India's opener.

The Indian cricket Board (BCCI) had earlier said that a grade-I tear in the shoulder had ruled Sehwag out of the tournament.

However, IPL's Team Delhi manager TA Sekar says a different story.

"As far as I know, it was a finger injury he suffered while fielding in the slips. But he recovered from that and came back to play in the IPL. If there was any injury after IPL then I don't know," said Sekar.

Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik will replace Sehwag in the Twenty20 World Cup in England.
