Injured Vettori Doubtful for India Tour

Wellington: Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has only a 10 per cent chance of being fit for upcoming Test and Twenty20 tour of India.

The left-arm spinner withdrew from the second test against the West Indies in Jamaica due to a right adductor strain and flew home.

The first of the two tests, at Hyderabad, begins on August 23 and skipper Ross Taylor indicated this morning that it would probably be too soon for Vettori.

New Zealand plays two T20s in India, on September 9 and 11, before beginning their world cup campaign with a clash against Bangladesh at Pallekele on September 21.

Vettori retired from international Twenty20 cricket last year, in an effort to prolong his test career, but has made himself available for the upcoming Twenty20 world cup in Sri Lanka.
