Kings XI Punjab Opened Account in IPL 2009 Against Bangalore

Durban: Punjab finally open their account and it will be one relieved camp. What I really liked about this chase was here was no element of panic even when they were behind the eight ball just after the halfway stage. Bopara stuck to his task and it was almost as if they knew Bangalore would crumble and let loose on or two really expensive overs. Praveen's 19-run leak was the turning point and they proceeded to take 30 off the next two.

Ideally, they should have continued with Vinay Kumar and Ryder should have been allowed to continue after his first over. Not the best day in the office for Pietersen the batsman and the captain. We will bring you the presentation shortly.

"When u drop some u make it had for yourself. It's not nice losing and we'll try and turn it around. My little team-mate from England Bopara played like a super star.", said Pietersen

Yuvraj told - "Thank God no rain! 169 was a fair total to chase and th wicket was good. Ravi was outstanding and he kept the momentum. All our experiments worked."

Bopara is the Man of the Match said - "We decided not to lose a wicket to Kumble so it was just a question of slamming it at the end. The ball was skidding through."

Punjab openers Ravi Bopara and Karan Goel added 52 runs for the first wicket before Goel was run out after a run-a-ball 19.

Brief Score: Kings XI Punjab 173 for 3 (Bopara 84) beat Bangalore Royal Challengers 168 for 9 (Kallis 62, Abdulla 4-31, Pathan 3-35) by seven wickets
