Lorgat Launch T20 World Cup Trophy in Pakistan

Karachi: International Cricket Council Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat will become the first ICC official to come to Pakistan in over a year when he lands in the city to attend the Twenty20 World Championship's trophy launch on April 15.

Pakistan Cricket Board officials said Lorgat would also address a joint press conference with PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt and Pakistan's Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi here on the same day.

It would be the first visit by an ICC official to Pakistan since terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March, 2009.

It was an attack that left Pakistan's cricket badly damaged and scared away all international teams.

Sources said Lorgat and other ICC officials were coming to Karachi since Pakistan were the defending champions of the tournament that starts on April 30 in the West Indies.

"Lorgat and his delegation will remain in Karachi for less then a day but his visit is a significant move as far as revival of international cricket in Pakistan is concerned," one official said.

Lorgat himself has time and again said that resumption of international cricket matches in Pakistan immediately is out of question.
