Australia A in Zimbabwe, 2011

Michael Beer Skittles Zimbabwe XI

Harare: Spinner Michael Beer spun Australia A to a comfortable 120-run win over a Zimbabwe representative team in the two-day tour match in Keweke that finished overnight.

Australia A batted on Monday, amassing 427 for four declared on the back of centuries to David Warner (152) and Callum Ferguson (156 retired) as well a half-century to Aaron Finch (63).

Backing up with the ball yesterday, the quicks bowled well without a lot of luck in very cool and windy conditions on a pretty flat pitch.

Peter Siddle bowled with good pace and control on his way to figures of 1-22 from 14 overs, but it was the spin of Beer that did the damage.

The West Australian off-spinner returned figures of 6-109 from 22 overs that comfortably saw the hosts fall well short of their target, all out in 90.4 overs.

The first of the official four-day games starts on Friday (15 - 18), while the second four-dayer, rounding out the tour, starts next Thursday (21 - 25).
