Namibia Upset Ireland in World T20 Qualifying

Dubai: Namibia held its nerve and upset Ireland by four runs in World Twenty20 cricket qualifying on Tuesday.

Louis Van Der Westhuizen spearheaded Namibia by scoring 34 in a handy total of 160-8, then captured 2-37 to restrict Ireland to 156-9.

Mohammad Nabi led defending champion Afghanistan to a convincing six-wicket win over Papua New Guinea with an unbeaten 52.

Former England international Geraint Jones was out for a duck as Afghanistan limited PNG to 112-6 before achieving the target with an over to spare.

Uganda defeated the much fancied United States by four wickets in another Group B match while Italy recorded a comfortable nine-wicket win over Oman.
