Pujara Guides India 'A' to Big Win Against Windies A

Leicester: In form skipper Cheteshwar Pujara struck a magnificent 114-run knock to guide India 'A' to a thumping 53-run win over the West Indies 'A' in the tri-series.

The Caribbean team opted to bowl but the Indian batsmen made them rue the decision by amassing 340 for six with Ajinkya Rahane contributing 90.

The West Indies made a spirited chase of the stiff target but all they could manage was 287 for 7.

Paceman Abhimanyu Mithun (3/49) was the most successful bowler for India.

India were off to a flier as openers Shikhar Dhawan (59) and Abhinav Mukund (36) scored 92 for the first wicket in under 13 overs.

The two batsmen fell in quick succession after that but Rahane and Pujara made the most of the flourishing start by adding 101 runs for the third wicket.

They batted together for 25 overs and it was Rahane who fell first when paceman Gavin Tonge disturbed his timbers. He missed out on his century but struck nine fours and a six in his 101-ball knock.

Pujara's entertaining 90-ball knock had 12 fours in it and ended in the penultimate over of the innings.

Darren Bravo was the top scorer for the West Indies side with his 83 and Andre Rusell scored 49.

Under pressure to chase down a near 350 target, the Caribbean side kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Mithun drew the first blood when he scalped Imran Khan (1) and later removed both Bravop and Rusell.
