Taylor Leads Rajasthan Royals to Top Spot

Jaipur: Ross Taylor hit an unbeaten 35-ball 47 to lead Rajasthan Royals to a six-wicket victory over Pune Warriors who crashed to their sixth consecutive defeat at Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur.

Taylor hit 2 sixes and 4 fours in his knock as Royals chased down the 144-run target in 19.3 overs.

Rahul Sharma took his third wicket when he had Ashok Menaria caught by Alfonso Thomas at deep mid-wicket.

Maneria hit 3 sixes in his 22-ball 29 before falling to Sharma.

Sharma dismissed Rahul Dravid and Johan Botha in his successive overs to reduce Rajasthan Royals to 59/3.

Sharma first took a return catch to get rid of Dravid and in his next over trapped Botha plumb in front of the wicket.

Alfonso Thomas gave Pune Warriors the first breakthrough when he had Shane Watson caught behind by Robin Uthappa.

Earlier, Siddharth Trivedi took 2 wickets as Rajasthan Royals restricted Pune Warriors to 143/7.

Shane Warne, Shane Watson and Johan Botha took a wicket each as none of the Pune batsmen got going.

Trivedi ran out Yuvraj Singh and then had Manish Pandey caught by Ross Taylor at deep mid-wicket to reduce Pune Warriors to 93/4.

Pandey straight drove the first delivery of Trivedi's second over but the bowler deflected the ball onto the stumps at the umpire's end and Yuvraj was backing up too far.

Four balls later, Pandey played a cross-bat shot that resulted in his dismissal. Pandey, who opened the innings, hit 4 fours in his 31-ball 30.

After his four LBW appeals were turned down, Shane Warne had the last laugh when he had Robin Uthappa caught behind by Dinesh Yagnik. Uthappa hit 7 fours in his 21-ball 35.

Pandey and Uthappa steadied the innings after the Warriors lost Jesse Ryder early.

Johan Botha gave Rajasthan Royals the first breakthrough as he had Ryder stumped by Yagnik.

Ryder hit three boundaries in his 12-ball stint and made 18 runs. Botha got better of Ryder as he tried to charge him coming down the pitch and got stumped by a good distance.
