Australia A in Zimbabwe, 2011

Warner, Ferguson Hit Tons in Warm-up Game

Harare: David Warner and Callum Ferguson both scored centuries as Australia A reached 427 for 4 in a two-day warm-up match against the Zimbabwe XI.

Tim Paine won the toss and chose to bat on a flat pitch at the Kwekwe Sports club.

Overcast, windy conditions assisted Zimbabwe's bowlers early on Monday, with Phil Hughes edging inside to Njabulo Ncube for 27.

Hughes' NSW teammate Usman Khawaja (eight) was the only other cheap wicket the hosts would take - caught behind off Elton Chigumbura in the 23rd over.

Zimbabwe had no answer to the combination of Warner and Ferguson, who amassed 136 runs for the third wicket.

Warner was eventually shifted by Natsai Mushangwe, but not before the left hander reached 152 of 141 balls, with the knock featuring 21 fours and four sixes.

Ferguson also brought up his century-and-a-half, making 156 and finishing unbeaten alongside Paine (18).

Aaron Finch was the only other man to fall for Australia A, caught by Kyle Jarvis off the bowling of Hamilton Masakadza, after weighing in with a valuable 63.

Zimbabwe XI captain Vusi Sibanda and his side will be hard pressed to chase down the target on Tuesday ahead of two four-day matches in Harare starting Friday.
