Indian cricket toured to Sri Lanka, where they played three Test match against host from 26 July to 14 August. Sri Lanka and India played five-match ODI (one-day internationals) from 20-Aug. to 3-Sept. and then one-off T20 International on September 6 at RPS, Colombo. India won the Test series by 3-0, this was India's first ever 3-0 series win overseas. India also won five match ODI series by 5-0 and one-off Twenty20 by seven wickets.

India become the first team to whitewash a home side across all formats in a tour after beating Sri Lanka 9-0. No country has won more matches on tour. Australia beat Pakistan in 2009/10 by 9-0 in all format but at home soil.
