Shaw, Vihari receive maiden Test call-ups

Mumbai: India have announced their squad for the final two Tests of the series against England, with 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw included for the first time.

After the conclusion of the third test at Nottingham, the BCCI announced the test squad for the remaining matches. Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari have been named for the last two matches.

Whereas, the BCCI made a decision to drop opener Murali Vijay and spinner Kuldeep Yadav for the matches. Both Yadav and Vijay failed to seal a spot for the third test at Nottingham.

Hanuma Vihari, a comparative veteran at 24, has also been included, after India fought their way back into series contention with a thumping victory at Trent Bridge.

In 2017, Shaw became the youngest player to score a century on Duleep Trophy debut, a record previously held by Sachin Tendulkar. The top-order batsman skippered India in the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup and signed for Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL, where he scored 245 runs in nine appearances.
