Kayes and Saifuddin power Bangladesh to 1-0

Bangladesh 271 for 8 (Imrul 144, Saifuddin 50, Jarvis 4-37, Chatara 3-55) beat Zimbabwe 243 for 9 (Williams 50*, Mehidy Hasan 3-46) by 28 runs

Dhaka: Opener Imrul Kayes smashed a career best 144 off 140 balls to guide Bangladesh to Zimbabwe by 28 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur on Sunday.

Zimbabwe chasing 272 runs to win scores 243 for 9 in 50 over quota.  Sean Williams was top scorer for Zimbabwe with unbeaten 50.

To chase 272, openers Hamilton Masakadza and Cephas Zhuwao scores 48 runs within seventh. But in the next over Rahman bowled Zhuwao on 35.

After first wickets, the tourist lost wickets in regular intervals and 29-run short of target.

For Bangladesh, spinner Mehidy Hasan claimed three wickets while Nazmul Islam returned 2-38.

Earlier, Bangladesh Kayes smashed a career best 144 off 140 balls to guide Bangladesh to 271-8.

Kayes shared a record 127-run stand in Dhaka with all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin for the seventh wicket as the hosts recovered from 139-6 to post a competitive score.

Saifuddin made 50 off 69 balls -- his maiden half-century in his fourth ODI.

Imrul, who struck 13 fours and six sixes, was also involved in a decent 71-run fourth-wicket stand with Mohammad Mithun (37) after skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pace bowler Kyle Jarvis claimed four wickets while Tendai Chatara returned 3-55.
