Sehwag Misses Triple Century, Falls for 293

Mumbai: Virender Sehwag fell short of making history as he was dismissed for 293 on the third day of the final Test against Sri Lanka on Friday.

The blistering opener was looking to become the first player in history to score three international triple tons but he pushed one straight back to Muttiah Muralitharan, who juggled but managed to hold on to the catch to end Sehwag's remarkable knock that comprised of 40 fours and seven sixes.

However, Sehwag's 251-ball innings set up India to go for a victory with a lead already in excess of 50 runs.

A victory here will take India to the number one Test spot.
