Kolkata in IPL Final With Thumping Win

Pune: The Kolkata Knight Riders made their first ever entry into the finals as they overcame Delhi Daredevils by 18 runs on Tuesday.

Delhi Daredevils lose wickets at regular intervals with asking rate soaring up as Kolkata Knight Riders.

Venugopal was the fifth man to fall at the score of 120.

Iqbal Abdulla dismissed Mahela Jayawardene after his gritty knock of 40 to give Kolkata Knight Riders crucial breakthrough after Delhi crossed 100-mark.

Rajat Bhatia struck in his second over to end Naman Ojha's challenge, giving Delhi Daredevils third blow at the score of 83 in the 11th over.

Ojha shared a solid 59-run stand for the third wicket with Mahela Jayawardene after losing both openers early in chase of 163.

Balaji dismissed Virender Sehwag (10) just after Shakib Al Hasan sent back David Warner (7) to rock Delhi Daredevils chase.

Kolkata Knight Riders' top order batsmen failed to capitalise on good starts but a fiery 56-run stand between Yusuf Pathan and Laxmi Shukla lifted them to 162 for four against Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League Qualifier.

It was good fight between the two IPL heavyweights as Delhi bowlers struck regularly to almost make it look like a no-contest but Pathan's 21-ball 40 and Shukla's 24 off 11 balls gave Kolkata a fightable total on the board.

The top three KKR batsmen -- Gautam Gambhir (32), Brendon McCullum (31) and Jacques Kallis (30) batted well but could not convert the starts into big knocks.

KKR were 106 for four in 16 overs after electing to bat but Pathan and Shukla came out all guns blazing as they scored 56 runs in the last four overs.
