Marsh Leads Punjab to Six-wicket Win Over MI

Mumbai: Shaun Marsh cracked an unbeaten 68 runs off 40 balls to help Kings XI Punjab end their losing streak and registered six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in their IPL 5 match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Kieron Pollard struck to give Kings XI Punjab huge jolt by dismissing David Hussey, who added 58-run with Shaun Marsh, in their IPL 5 match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Marsh and Hussey were hitting boundaries all over the park to keep Punjab afloat after losing openers in quick succession.

Kieron Pollard gave Punjab second blow when he dismissed Mandeep Singh, who was caught at the deep midwicket by James Franklin.

Kings XI lost Nitin Saini after the openers shared 48-run stand. Saini played a useful knock before caught plumb in front of the wicket off Pragyan Ojha.

Punjab have not lost a wicket in the powerplay, scoring at a brisk pace to put 48 on the board in six overs.

Earlier, James Franklin (79 off 51 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (35 off 20 balls) helped Mumbai Indians set 164-run target for Kings XI Punjab.

However, Punjab made brief comeback in the slog overs as they removed Mumbai's four batsmen in five overs to refrain them from getting a big total.

Parveen Kumar and Parvinder Awana struck to claim two wickets apiece for Punjab as Sachin and Karthik got run-out.

Karthik and James Franklin turned the momentum in Mumbai's way with their magnificent hitting, adding quick-fire 75-run stand in six overs to put Punjab on the backfoot.

James Franklin notched up 38-ball half-century, smashing four fours and two sixes to help Mumbai Indians recover after twin blows.

Mumbai Indians lost Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma in quick succession after got off to steady start against Kings XI.

Sachin, who is playing in his comeback match, got run-out when he played it away through square leg, Tendulkar went for the second, David Miller ran in from deep midwicket and returned an accurate throw, Tendulkar fell short as the bails were taken off.

In the next over, Parvinder Awana struck to give Mumbai another blow by dismissing Sharma.

Sachin and James Franklin struggled early in the innings but got the momentum later as they have added 39-run in the first six overs of the mandatory powerplay and went on to reach their half-century stand in 8 overs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians skipper Harbhajan Singh won the toss and opted to bat.

Mumbai got the big boost as master blaster Sachin Tendulkar returned to the side after being hit on the finger in the inaugural match of the tournament. James Franklin and Thisara Perera are also included in place of Richard Levy, Davey Jacobs and Clint McKay.

Kings XI also made few changes as Siddharth Chitnis and Bhargav Bhatt replaced Paul Valthaty and Harmeet Singh.
