Rohit Ton Snaps Kolkata's Streak

Kolkata: A maiden IPL ton from Rohit Sharma helped Mumbai move up to the 3rd position in the points table. Kolkata were never in the chase despite a valiant 79 from Jacques Kallis, losing by 27 runs IPL clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Chasing mammoth 183-run target, Kolkata Knight Riders lost their third wicket in the form of Manoj Tiwary and Jacques Kallis (79 off 60 balls) and Yusuf Pathan (40* off 31 balls) went in vain as Kolkata Knight Riders managed to reach 155/4.

Mumbai Indians' Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha dismissed Gautam Gambhir and Manvinder Bisla respectively to give Kolkata Knight Riders early blows.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma notched up an unbeaten 109 off 60 balls to propel Mumbai Indians to 182/1 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sharma played a cracker of an innings, smacking 12 fours and five sixes in his scintillating knock. Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs stitched an unbeaten 167-run partnership for the second wicket in 17.4 overs to help Mumbai post the stiff target for Kolkata.

Herschelle Gibbs, who is playing first match of this season, supported his partner exceptionally well and as he remained unbeaten on 66 off 58 balls.

Gibbs and Rohit kept their cool after losing Sachin Tendulkar as they took Mumbai Indians past 100 runs in the 12th over.
