Established in 1962, the Nehru stadium hosted its first international match only in 1983 during the West Indies tour of India.
Although the ground was established in 1962, it hosted its first ODI between India and West Indies on December 17, 1983. Since then it hasn’t hosted too many ODI’s, the main limitations being the early morning fog and the dim light in the evenings.
Both these factors have affected cricket in an adverse manner but this ground has seen some close matches and also some brilliant performances from the likes of Brian Lara, who have entertained the crowd capacity of 25000.
