UAE 30-man World Cup Preliminary Squad

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) selectors named a provisional 30-man squad for the 2015 World Cup. The UAE selectors named a provisional 30-man squad for the 2015 World Cup.

UAE is drawn in Pool B along with India, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies and Ireland. They will open their campaign against Zimbabwe on February 19 at the Saxton Oval in Nelson.

UAE have enjoyed success in the recent months. In November, they defeated Afghanistan 3-1 in a four-match ODI series in Dubai. Their skipper, 43-year old Khurram Khan, ended up scoring 270 runs in the series and was dismissed just once.

The likes of Mohammad Shahzad and Andri Berenger, who did well in the Afghanistan series, will be the other key players in the team. This will be UAE's first appearance in the 50-over World Cup since 1996. They recently featured in the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
